  	“In the name of God, amen. The fifth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and five. I Joel Thacker of South Carolina in Abbeville District, planter being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God for the same and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hands of God that gave all and for my body I recommend it to the earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in manner and form Following that is to say: I give and bequeath to my eldest son Nathaniel Thacker one hundred acres of Land of the plantation whereon I now live to be laid off to him on that side of the Plantation whereon he has built and cleared.Also I give to my youngest son Ezekiel Thacker the residue of said plantation whereon he has built and cleared also I give to my youngest son Ezekiel Thacker the residue of said plantation together with his Mill whereon houses etc. Also to my daughter Rose Thacker I give and bequeath a young dun horse named Peat. Also I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary a young bay horse named Fly. All my other stock, household furniture Plantation tools etc. I allow to be sold at vendue the money which they amount to when collected to be equally divided betwixt my dear wife, my son Ezekiel, and my two daughters Rose and Mary. All debts owing to me I allow to be collected and my Lawful debts paid burial expenses etc. and the remainder to be divided as above.I do hereby constitute make and ordain Andrew Stephenson, Andrew Bowie and my son Ezekiel Thacker executors of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disown all and every other former Wills and Testaments legacies bequests and executors by me in any ways before this time named will and bequeath, ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament.In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.” his Joel X Thacker mark Signed, sealed published, pronounced and declared, by the said Joel Thacker as his last Will and Testament in presence of us the subscribers; that is to say….
